Travel Blog #13: The Countdown

Good Evening!
I’ve officially reached the two week mark. Two weeks down. Two weeks to go.
Day 13: Veronica and I slept for most of the day because we were obviously exhausted from the night before. The only problem with that, is the fact that I missed two meals and I know that I’m losing weight at a rapid rate.
Deciding that we didn’t want to eat dinner at the canteen, Veronica and I got dressed and went to the mall. Just the two of us went, we wanted to hang out and have fun since everyone had all of their fun the night before. We went the the mall that’s pretty close to campus, it’s only two subway stops away. Plus, it’s nice and big with plenty of food options (it’s the same mall I’ve talked about previously). We got to the mall and decided on a restaurant that we could smell as we walked up – it smelled delicious.
It’s very common in Chinese culture for people to share meals rather than ordering individually. This restaurant was set up that way as well, so we got a platter that came with lamb chops and fries. It was my first time trying lamb chops, Veronica too – we weren’t the slightest bit disappointed. They were AMAZING! Tender, well-seasoned, and juicy!
After we left dinner we walked around the mall for a bit and got frozen yogurt. I was glad I found it because I love ice cream, but haven’t eaten any since I’ve gotten to China. It’s strongly recommended to not eat ice cream here as the milk may not be pasteurized. Luckily, frozen yogurt isn’t dairy and it was delicious. I got mango flavor, a flavor I’ve recently deemed as my favorite fruit.
All in all it was a good day, but now the countdown to return home is on!
再见 (Bye)!
Kyla
